The Kerry Wood Nature Centre and surrounding grounds offer a unique wilderness escape in the heart of Red Deer. From wildflower gardens to wetland boardwalks, our natural spaces make a peaceful backdrop for your special day.
Kerry Wood Nature Centre
Not your usual hotel reception room! There are a variety of spaces in the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, including the Marjorie Wood Gallery, Discovery Room, and Theatre. The Discovery Room and Theatre are separated by a divider wall that can be removed to combine the two spaces.
Allen Bungalow
The Allen Bungalow sits across the parking lot from the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. The old parlour of this historic house is now the McCullough Room, a wheelchair-accessible public meeting spot with a washroom and kitchenette.
Outside the Allen Bungalow’s front door are the Busby Gardens & Gazebo. In the 1930s and 1940s, these gardens were locally-famous and considered among the most beautiful in Red Deer. The heritage gardens have recently been brought back to their former luster and a beautiful cedar gazebo has been added.
Festival Field is a fenced-off grassy area adjacent to the Allen Bungalow and Busby Gardens.
Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary
The walking paths, Bird Blind, and viewing decks in the Sanctuary provide stunning views for nature-lovers. Trails are open to the public and not available for private rentals; wedding guests are welcome to visit and enjoy the views. The Bird Blind may be rented for wedding photography by special request.
