The Ultimate Design Contest 
Rules & Regulations

The purpose of the contest is to design a Buff (a fabric tube knit band that can be used as a scarf, hat or bandana) for the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Historic Fort Normandeau uniform. This design may also be used in media –including online, print, merchandise, and branding. 

Designs submitted for the contest will be displayed in the Marjorie Wood Gallery at The Kerry Wood Nature Centre to showcase Red Deer’s diverse talent. 

Official Contest Rules:
To be eligible each entrant must be complete and submit no more than one entry form with their artwork.
All submitted artwork must be the original work of the entrant and must not be copyrighted.
By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that any and all intellectual property rights in the design are deemed assigned to the Waskasoo Environmental Education Society. 
Except where prohibited by law an entry submission into this contest constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, likeness, prize information, and information provided on the entry form for publicity purposes, without further permission or compensation.
The decisions of the Selection Committee will be final. The selected winner must submit the original artwork or a scalable vector version of the winning design.

The winning submission: The winning submission will be the featured artist in the Marjorie Wood Gallery “Ultimate Design Contest Show” and receive recognition through social media and local news. The winning submission will also receive a printed Buff with their original design and a family snowshoe adventure package. 

Contestants are encouraged to refer to our brand guidelines: 
Designs must incorporate the attached logo or allow room for the logo in the original design. 
Designs must align with the one or all of the following themes: 
    oLocal nature 
    oCultural heritage -circa 1885.
Designs must be 10 inches in tall by 20 inches in length (10”x20”) and allow for a 0.5” print bleed.

Media: We are accepting all forms of media for the contest including but not limited to photography, drawing, painting, digital art etc. 

How to Enter:
To enter the Ultimate Design Contest, participants must:
• Complete the official entry form and email and/or deliver at least one image of your original work with your entry. Parents/Guardians must sign for contestants under the age of 18.
• To be included in the contest gallery show in the Marjorie Wood Gallery, entrants must submit original artwork.
•  Submit a design in jpeg, PSD, EPS, or PDF format or submit the original artwork.
• Submit your completed entry form and design to or in person no later than November 18, 2017:

Selection Criteria:
The Selection Committee will be comprised of the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, Fort Normandeau staff and local artists. The committee will evaluate all entries based on the following criteria (though other criteria may be considered). The Selection Committee reserves the right not to select a winner, if enough entries are not received by the deadline. 

Does the entry align with the one or more of the themes?

Does the composition exhibit original design, creativity, and imagination?

Aesthetic Quality:
Does the submission inspire us?
